Associate Economic Developer
Reports To: Executive Director
Job Type: Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)
Position Overview: The Associate Economic Developer will support the Walton County Economic Development Alliance in its mission to promote and facilitate economic growth and development within the county. This role requires a dynamic, proactive individual who can work flexibly across various economic development activities, adapting to changing organizational needs and leveraging personal strengths for optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Economic Development: Assist in the implementation of economic development strategies, including business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts. Analyze and present economic data to support decision-making.
Project Management: Coordinate and manage economic development projects from inception to completion. Ensure that projects meet deadlines, budgets, and desired outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, government agencies, and community leaders. Represent the organization at community and business events.
Marketing and Communications: Contribute to marketing and public relations efforts to enhance the organization's visibility and impact. Develop content for newsletters, press releases, and social media.
Bookkeeping: Perform bookkeeping duties, including tracking expenses, preparing financial reports, and assisting in the budgeting process to ensure financial accountability and transparency.
Responsibilities will be assigned and may change over time based on the strengths and development of team members, as well as the evolving needs of the organization. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt to new challenges are essential.
Tools and Software:
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite, including Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI, Forms, Teams, OneDrive, and Planner.
Familiarity with financial management software, specifically QuickBooks.
Knowledge of website management platforms, notably Squarespace.
Ability to use geographic information systems (GIS), preferably ArcGIS, for spatial data analysis and mapping.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, or related field, or related experience is highly valued.
Experience in economic development, project management, business development, aoperations, or a related field is preferred.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in handling economic data.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
Self-motivated with a proven track record of initiating and completing projects successfully.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
